For me, the most important reason, In addition to other benefits, is setting the correct white balance , because you can easely change it later in post production.
Lately on Facebook and other sites a lot of landscape photos, have completely wrong white balance (.). Photos taken during sunrise and sunsets are looking to green and yellow . At sunrise and sunsets colours are more warm orange and yellow with occasional blue sky above.
If you have the white balance set by your camera , or you are setting it yourself, then when shooting in JPG mode this values are later almost impossible to correct.
However, if you take pictures in RAW mode, this setting is not vitally important how your photo will look, because you can easily change it later in post production.
